Ukraine Corn Harvest Past Halfway
The Ukraine agriculture ministry reported Thursday that the 2008 corn harvest is 56% complete, producing 6.168mmt so far from 1.4 million hectares, with the average yield of 4.38 tons a hectare.
At the same point last year the corn harvest was 6.538mmt off 1.649 million hectares with the average yield of 3.97 tons a hectare.
This pegs the total Ukraine grain harvest to date at 50.369mmt. In 2007 the total grain harvest was 29.3mmt.
