Hungary Responsible For 50 Percent Of EU Intervention Offers

Hungary accounts for 50% of the 1.35 MMT of EU grains offered for intervention, according to the latest data.

Record yields in 2008 pushed Hungary's wheat crop up 42% from 2007, with barley output 45% higher.

The bulk of the remaining offers also, unsurprisingly, come from Eastern Europe with the Czech Republic accounting for 13% and Slovakia 10%.

In total 671,025 MT of barley and 595,650 MT of wheat have been offered into intervention,
