EU Wheat Close
Nov London wheat ended down GBP1.25 at GBP166.25/tonne, with Nov Paris wheat EUR3.50 lower at EUR227.75/tonne.
A very firm euro hampered Paris wheat, and news that Egypt was tendering for non-French hard wheat was also negative.
Nov Paris wheat closed well below the recent support level of EUR230/tonne.
At home, the HGCA confirmed what we already knew, average specific weights and protein levels are up on last year and above average at 77.3kh/hl and 12.2% protein.
Russian and Ukraine winter grain plantings are well behind schedule. Sowings in the former at currently running at 8 million ha, versus expectations of 18 million normally.
