17/11/10 -- Britain's Northern Foods and Ireland's Greencore are to merge into one entity to be named Essenta Foods.

Essenta will be based in Dublin with shareholders of Northern Foods and Greencore each holding around 50% of the newly combined group.

They reckon that they can save GBP40 million a year in costs for each of the next three years by combining resources.
