Ukraine Corn Harvest Latest

03/10/12 -- The Ukraine Ministry say that this year's grain harvest is 81% complete, producing 33.26 MMT, with average yields at 2.76 MT/ha versus 3.21 MT/ha this time last year, a drop of 14%.

The corn harvest is 42% done, producing 7.22 MMT so far, with an average yield of 3.87 MT/ha. That means that yields are going to have to improve significantly in the second half of the harvest if they are going to get anywhere near the USDA's forecast 21 MMT crop.

The Ukraine PM goes one further, saying that this year's corn crop will match last season's output, which was 22.8 MMT according to the USDA. Hmmmmm....
