Russian Grain Harvest Now At 113.6MMT
As of November 10, Russia had harvested 113.6 mln tonnes of grain in bunker weight, an increase of 26.4 mln tonnes compared to the same date of the previous year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture. Russian farmers have completed harvesting on 45.3 mln ha or 97.7% of planted area, up 4.1 mln ha compared to the same date of 2007.
Russian Grain Harvest 107-108MMT - RGU
According to the Russian Grain Union, the net grain yield is to amount to 107-108mn tons in 2008.
Grain carry-over stocks are expected at the level of 22mn tons as of 1 July 2009.
Currently the price for grain in the country have decreased by around 70-80% from the highs of 2007, it says.
Class three milling wheat is worth about RUR 5,700 (US$ 243.00) per tonne (from RUR 8,700 in January 2008). Feed grain is worth around RUR 3,200 (US$136.50) per tonne (from RUR 7,800), it says.
Russian Grain Harvest Sets 15-Year Record
In 2008, Russia harvested 110.5 mln tonnes of grains (off 96% of planted area), which is a record during last 15 years, declared Aleksey Gordeyev, the Minister of Agriculture of Russia, on October 9.
According to the Minister, the yield was over 2.49 tons a hectare, which is also a record for Russia.
Krasnodar Krai (over 11 mln tonnes) and Rostov oblast (9 mln tonnes) are the main leaders of grain harvest. Overall the wheat crop in Russia totals 65 mln tonnes so far, 13.7 million tonnes more than on the same date last year. Of which the food grade wheat totals 34 mln tonnes, an increase of 6 mln tonnes compared to the previous year, the Ministry said.
The Ministry said it now expects this year's grain harvest total 105 million tonnes in clean weight, which would be about 23 million tonnes more than in 2007.
To date, Russian farmers have planted 12.5 mln ha of winter crops, the Ministry added. Gordeyev said the area planted with winter crops would be 10% higher than it was last year. Winter crops, which mainly consist of food grain, account for 40% of the grain grown in the country, he said.
Russian Grain Harvest 92Pct Done Yielding 107.4MMT
As of October 6, Russia harvested grain and legumes within 42.8 mln ha (92% of planned areas) and, the crop totaled 107.4 mln tonnes of grain, a 23 mln tonnes increase compared to the same date in the previous year. An average yield totaled 25.1 c/ha, up 4 c/ha compared to the previous year. Russian farmers have to harvest 3.5 mln ha (8% of planned territory), including 2.2 mln ha of grains, 1.2 mln ha of maize and 99,300 ha of rice, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia.
Further, Russian farmers harvested wheat throughout 24.6 mln ha (92% of planned areas) with a yield of 26 c/ha, up 3.8 c/ha. The crop totaled 63.8 mln tonnes, up 12.9 mln tonnes compared to 2007. 9 mln ha of barley were harvested (92% of planned territory) with a crop yield of 23.6 mln tonnes, up 7.3 mln tonnes compared to the previous year. An average yield totaled 26.3 c/ha, an increase of 6.4 c/ha compared to 2007.
Officials also reported that 630,800 ha (34%) of maize were harvested with a crop of 2.9 mln tonnes, up 382,000 tonnes compared to the previous year. An average yield totaled 46 c/ha, up 16.1 c/ha compared to the same date in 2007. 64,700 ha of rice were harvested (39% of planned areas) with a crop of 339,000 tonnes. An average yield totaled 52.3 c/ha.
Russian 2008/09 Grain Exports To Increase More Than 50Pct
This season (2008/09 MY) Russia will be able to export nearly 40 mln tonnes of grain as opposed to just over 26 mln tonnes in the previous season, reported Alexander Korbut, the vice-president of Russian Grain Union, on October 2 during the Seventh International Conference "Grain industry 2008".
4-grade soft wheat will form the main exports volumes of food grain. 3-grade wheat share will total 5-7% from the whole exports volume, according to A.Korbut. Logistics problems, especially lack of railway cars will be the main limitations for future exports.
According to the vice-president, Russia will harvest over 101 mln tonnes of grain, including 60 mln tonnes of wheat, 22 mln tonnes of barley and 6 mln tonnes of maize.
I See The Russians Are At It Again Then
The Russian Ag Ministry reported Tuesday that the 2008 Russian grain harvest has yielded 104.17mmt as of 30th Sept with 10.8% of the crop still to be harvested.
This makes the harvest more than 22mmt ahead of the same time last year, but those wily old Russians are still being coy about eventual output and sticking by their latest reluctant estimate of 95-100mmt "clean weight."
Still it wasn't that long ago that they were saying that output would be 85mmt, just 3mmt up on 2007.
I wouldn't like to buy a used car off a Russian, would you? Just 500 genuine kilometers, only ever been driven by my mother, like new, yes the side panels do look a different colour comrade, it's that special two-tone paint, we paid 50m roubles extra for that, have another vodka.
Russian Grain Harvest 98.4MMT Off 82%
The Russian grain harvest is seen at 98.4MMT as of 22nd Sept off 82% of planted area. Wheat harvested to date is 56.6mmt from 81.5% of planted area, and barley 22.7mmt off 88% of planted area.
Despite the figures, the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia has repeated its previous total grain harvest forecast of 95-100 mln tonnes, with exports totalling 20-25 mln tonnes, according to Aleksey Gordeev, the Minister of Agriculture.
Russian Grain Harvest Now Officially In Excess 100MMT, Unofficially 110MMT+
Well, I've been saying for long enough that the figures don't stack up. The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia have now officially stated that this year's grain harvest in Russia will total 100-102 mln tonnes.
Last year, Russia harvested 81.8 mln tonnes of grain, as opposed to 78.6 mln tonnes in 2006. In 2008, Russia will harvest a record crop not seen since the beginning of 1990's.
This year's maize harvest also has broken a record and is expected to be 5.0-5.5 mln tonnes. Last year, the maize harvest totaled 4 mln tonnes compared to 3.7 mln tonnes in 2006.
Now, here's the interesting bit....
"As of September 16, Russia harvested 95.3 mln tonnes of grain and legumes throughout 36.1 mln ha. The remaining area totals nearly 10.2 mln ha and potential crops also total 15 mln tonnes."
Hang on a minute, there's 95mmt in the barn, off 78% of total planted acreage. Even if they only get the 15mmt stated (and the way things have been panning out you just know they'll be understating it), 95+15 is 110 isn't it? Not 100-102.
Meanwhile 95mmt off 36m ha is nearly 2.64mt/ha, IF they were to get that yield off the final 10m ha then that puts another 26mmt onto the harvest, giving us a total output of around 120mmt. OK, they won't harvest 100% of total planted area, yields on whats left might not be as good, but a final harvest of 110mmt looks highly achieve able.
And that's assuming that they are telling the truth about total planted acres!
Russians Admit Grain Harvest To Hit 100MMT
Well I never. Looks like I'm not Ruud van Nistelrooy after all. Those cheeky chappies at the Kremlin were too busy invading Georgia to count how much grain they had this year. Now they've gone and found several million tonnes of grain that they'd completely forgotten about planting. But based on my calculations even 100MMT is still a bit conservative. Russians eh, you know when they're lying, their lips move....
Russia's grain harvest will reach 100 million tons this year according to the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR).
Presenting the forecast at the Russian Grain Union's 14th international conference in Moscow on this week, IKAR general director Dmitry Rylko said the gross grain harvest this year will total 100 million tons. In particular, the wheat harvest will reach 60 million tons, while the barley harvest will amount to 20 million tons. "Corn production could even post a record compared to the time of Krushchev and total 6 million tons," Rylko said.
The situation, however, is complicated by several factors, namely "the extremely large share of coarse wheat in the overall harvest, the unevenness in the distribution of grain quality - a large harvest and low quality in the European part of the country plus a small harvest and high quality in the Urals - as well as a sharp worsening in competition on export markets," he said. Grain exports could reach an all-time high of 18.5 million tons this year, he said.
A total of 3.46 million tons of grain had already been exported as of July 1, a record-high for recent years.
Russian Grain Harvest Latest - Official Sums Don't Add Up
As of September 8, Russia had harvested grain and legumes on 33 mln ha (71.3% of sowed areas) and the crop totaled 89 mln tonnes, an increase 21.3 mln tonnes compared to the same date of the previous year. The yield totaled 26.9 c/ha, up 4.8 c/ha compared to 2007, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia.
18.7 mln ha of wheat have been harvested (70% of sowed areas) with the yield of 27.8 c/ha, up 3.6 c/ha compared to the previous year. The crop totaled 51.8 mln tonnes, an increase 11.1 mln tonnes compared to 2007. 7.8 mln ha of barley have been harvested (80.8% of sowed areas) with a yield of 27.2 c/ha, up 6.9 c/ha compared to 2007.
The official estimate of a total grain crop of 95mmt again has to look highly questionable with output standing at 89mmt off just 71.3% of planted area. If you do the sums 100% of planted area gives us an output of more like 125mmt.
Russian wheat production in 2007 was 49.4mmt according to the USDA, they've topped that already with 30% of the crop still to go at.
Russian Grain Harvest Latest
Russia, the world's fifth-largest grain producer, expects to harvest at least 95m tonnes of grain this year, according to official estimates.
The Agriculture Ministry said Thursday that Russia exported over 2m tonnes of grain, mainly wheat, between July 1 and August 18.
Analysts expect that Russia will export some 20m tonnes in the 2008-2009 crop year, which began in July, 2.5m tonnes of it in September.
It seems widely accepted that like the Ukraine, Russia's wheat crop will consist of a large proportion of feed wheat this season.
In his latest report the US Agricultural Attache said "prices of feed quality wheat and barley continue to fall rapidly, while the price of milling wheat stabilized due to low production."
The attache raised his 2008 crop production estimates saying, "the increase is due to good weather conditions in July and August, reported harvest progress, and excellent yields of winter grains - especially winter wheat - in European Russia."
"If the Russian crop doesn't ultimately come in above 100mt then I'm Ruud Van Nistelrooy," said one incredibly good-looking UK broker.
Russia: Grain supply and demand estimate for 2008/09
The US agricultural attaché estimates Russia’s wheat production in 2008/09 at 54.0 mln t which is above the 49.4 mln t in 2007/08. This is due to an expected higher harvested area of 25.5 (24.5) mln ha and higher yields of 2.1 (2.0) t/ha. Exports may increase to 12.5 (12.0) mln t, feed use should reach 16.0 (15.4) mln t and other use 23.0 (22.8) mln t. Ending stocks may therefore recover enormously to 6.1 (2.6) mln t.
Barley production is also projected to rise to 17.5 (15.7) mln t due to possible higher yields of 1.8 (1.6) t/ha, although the harvested acreage should reach only 9.6 (9.8) mln ha. Exports are expected at 1.3 (1.0) mln t, feed use at 11.3 (10.7) mln t, and other use at an unchanged 4.6 mln t. Ending stocks can thus recover to 1.3 mln (776,000) t.
Corn output is forecast at 6.8 (4.0) mln t on a higher harvested area of 1.8 (1.3) mln ha and due to higher yields of 3.8 (3.0) t/ha. Exports may rise to 200,000 (50,000) t, feed use to 4.2 (3.4) mln t, while other use is stable at 600,000 t. Thus ending stocks should increase significantly to 2.1 mln (225,000) t.
Rye production is estimated at 4.0 (3.9) mln t, the harvested area at 2.3 (2.1) mln ha, yields at 1.7 (1.9) t/ha, exports at 75,000 (0) mln t, total consumption at 3.7 (3.9) mln t, and ending stocks of 351,000 (76,000) t.
